Better Together
"The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members." - Coretta Scott King
Most of our students go on course looking to improve their personal development and leadership potential. After course, students often share how much they’ve learned about their abilities and also how much they’ve learned about empowering personal development and leadership in others.

"This course showed me that there’s more to do in the world than just sitting in the house doing nothing. I’ve grown by working with younger kids and teaching them what I learn, like how to live in the wilderness."
– student from Open World Learning

There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes to make an Outward Bound course successful. Your support and leadership, along with the support and leadership of our community, has played an enormous part in that success.

This past spring, Voyageur Outward Bound School was awarded over $100,000 from four long standing foundation partners to fund leadership development programs for youth in our Twin Cities community.

Twin Cities programming helps low-income youth develop strength of character, leadership, and social-emotional skills through outdoor experiential education.

Grants from the Otto Bremer Trust, Schulze Family Foundation, George Family Foundation and the H.B. Fuller Company Foundation will be used as a match to help Twin Cities schools and youth development programs partner with VOBS to build social-emotional skills in targeted groups of high-need, high-potential students.

"Strength doesn't come from what you can do, it comes from overcoming the things you thought you couldn't."
– student from Open World Learning

If you would like to individually support our programs, visit our donate page, or call me directly at (651) 401-0635.

We're also excited to share that in 2019 VOBS will be running a capital campaign to support three specific needs: improved facilities, grow financial aid for low income students and support internal capacity. We'll continue to send you updates as we move along in our planning process.

Thank you for your support!

THE AWARD WINNING DOCUMENTARY
WOMEN OUTWARD BOUND

North Face Minneapolis is honored to be screening the award winning documentary, "Women Outward Bound."  In 1965, this was the first Outward Bound course for girls, and led to breaking barriers, changing history and changing the lives of these now women—forever. Many different threads of life contrasted then and now run through the film. Filmmaker/director, Maxine Davis, will be present after the film for Q&A.

The content of "Women Outward Bound" is important to The North Face because this year, the brand launched the Move Mountains campaign. The idea of this campaign is to share stories of women doing incredible things in exploration and inspire more girls and women to live a life of exploration. #shemovesmountains

Small bites and beverages will be provided by Urban Growler Brewing Co.

Tickets are free of charge but any donation made will go directly to local nonprofit, Voyageur Outward Bound School, the first Outward Bound School to put girls on an Outward Bound course. Tickets are limited, so get yours today!
