Students learn about The Root Beer Lady of the Boundary Waters
Greetings VOBSters,

It seems that every year, without fail, the middle of July rolls around and we go "WHOA, how in the heck is it already the middle of summer!?" This year proves to be no exception because here we are, dumbfounded that it's already the middle of July. We're in the thick of summer programming, with courses going out and returning back weekly, with students eager and excited to begin expedition, and crews returning from course with a sense of belonging and purpose.

No matter the course area or activity, the students' desire to build community has been ever present, and it's really not surprising giving the last few years we've head. People not only are longing to feel connection but they're seeking it out in new, exciting environments. And what brings us such joy is that they're finding it. They're leaning on each other, making new connections and finding out for themselves exactly why it's important.

We're eternally grateful to be part of a community that creates these opportunities, be it for our students, our staff, our partners or our donors. We want to leave you with this incredible student reflection - they never cease to amaze us.
Gratefully,
Your VOBS Crew
Things We Love

Take your semester outside this fall on an Outward Bound Gap Year expedition. From three-month long expeditions focused on leadership training and community-building to 30-day courses that unearth your passions and prepare you for life beyond the classroom. There’s an expedition designed for you.

Explore all fall #GapYear expeditions:
Have you visited the biggest lake in the world? Gichigamiing, also known as, "Lake Superior," holds 10 percent of the world’s fresh water– three quadrillion gallons. Try to absorb that for a moment– you really can’t.

The Fellowship Initiative (TFI) is pretty big too. TFI is a nationwide JPMorgan Chase endeavor that engages hundreds of young men across the major cities of America, and it certainly creates a ripple effect in our world. For 10 years, JPMorgan Chase and TFI have provided TFI Fellows with sustained mentorship, intensive academic support and educational opportunities across America, and internationally. No wonder TFI teams-up with Outward Bound to provide experiential leadership expeditions for Fellows– we are both invested in that ripple effect– we want to support emerging leaders of color, and we want to make the world a more compassionate and resilient place.
Fall Intercept Semester

Outward Bound Intercept expeditions help teens or young adults and their families realize they’re not alone in struggling with life's challenges – and that we are, in fact, in this together. Our wilderness expeditions take students out of their routines and into awe-inspiring settings where they can gain a new perspective on life.
