"When the swamps were the deepest, the packs the heaviest, the rivers the wildest - we did it together and it was the most beautiful." ~ VOBS Alumni, 1973 ~
July has come and gone and we can hardly believe it! It's been a fabulous summer so far, running some incredible courses through the Boundary Waters, Superior Hiking Trail, St. Croix Riverway and Lake Superior... along with welcoming some great new partners on expedition and single day adventures.
We are already shifting gears to the fall season in Minnesota... and Texas, here we come!
"We are insignificant -- nothing -- on our own. A drop in a vast ocean. But together? Together we are powerful. Together we create change. Together we move forward. Together we lift each other up." ~ Trevor, VOBS Alum ~
Our vision is a more resilient and compassionate world. But how do we get there? With more resilient and compassionate people, working together.
With your support,we can bring this mission and message to serve more students today and
in the future! Donate today!
THINGS WE LOVE:
July's Legendary Voyageur: Sigurd F. Olson - " “The movement of a canoe is like a reed in the wind. Silence is part of it, and the sounds of lapping water, bird songs, and wind in the trees. It is part of the medium through which it floats, the sky, the water, the shores….There is magic in the feel of a paddle and the movement of a canoe, a magic compounded of distance, adventure, solitude, and peace. The way of a canoe is the way of the wilderness, and of a freedom almost forgotten. It is an antidote to insecurity, the open door to waterways of ages past and a way of life with profound and abiding satisfactions.”

Susan, a long-time supporter and VOBS alumni (Boundary Waters course in the 1970’s as a teenager and again in the 1990's as an adult student at our Texas base), says one of the best lessons that comes from a VOBS course is "you learn to work
with people who you may not always enjoy being around but you learn how to respect them and work alongside them. This lesson carried me through my career."
