November is a month for thanks, and this year, as in all years, we are grateful for our partnership with you. You know very well that creative collaboration to serve students with relevant experiential education is the heart of our shared work. But, another great gift of our relationship is certainly worth mentioning: you and your students give us purpose in life.
The thing about mission-driven work is that the people who do it live for it. Here at Voyageur Outward Bound School, you will find one thing in common across our 3 locations and the diversity of our staff-- we do this work because it gives our lives meaning, and we have you, our partners, to thank for this direction.
Our Instructors certainly thrive in their roles, but the conviction that challenge and adventure change lives is shared by
everyone on our team. From our Logistics Manager, to our our Course Advisors, Administrators and even our amazing Accountant, we wake up in the morning and head out into the wilderness (or into the office) with a tremendous sense of purpose. This is a great gift. Thank

Indeed, your partnership makes VOBS a great place to work. Once again, we made the list of the 100 Best Places To Work. It may sound like we are tooting our own horn here, but actually, we're tooting yours. We're a great place to work because you make it so. Without you, without your students, there would be no VOBS. No direction. No purpose. Period. So thank YOU for "Leading the Way" and making Voyageur Outward Bound School a great place to thrive.
So while we live for student discovery, and this gives us purpose, our partnership with you sometimes yields even more dividends. Many of our employees were once upon a time students. Some of these students were even folks who lacked purpose, and when they went "Outward Bound," they discovered that they wanted to be Outward Bound all the time. Bud Ahrens, our Winter Program Director, was once such a student. Bud's own "Cinderella Story" is posted on our blog and his tale is not only entertaining, it's a great example of self-discovery and finding purpose.
