Request for Partnership
Winter Expedition Funding

Greetings VOBS Friends,

We have a brand new approach to launching partnership with schools, colleges, nonprofits and professionals.

Starting something new can be tough, that's why we are pitching in to help fund new programs. Here's how we're investing in new partnerships, starting this winter:

80% Funding
For 2020 programs that serve historically marginalized or economically disadvantaged Minnesota youth & young adults

20% Funding
For new 2020 programs that serve youth, young adults or adults

We can program with schools, colleges or nonprofits here in Minnesota, and in Big Bend, Texas to put people on course for success.

Currently, we plan to launch and fund:

  • Five Minnesota 4-8 Day Dogsledding Expeditions in February or March
  • Five Texas 6-10 Day Backpacking Expeditions in February or March

How can you change lives? Introduce people to the power of nature-based experiential group learning. Our students build a sense of belonging, develop strength and discover purpose.

Expeditions grow character and leadership through key Domains of Thriving:

Belonging for teamwork and group relationships

Courage for assertiveness and perseverance

Physical Engagment for confidence and self-regulation

Reflection for self-awareness and social responsibility

This is your opportunity to make a difference in the lives of your students and your community! If you know an organization or school that might appreciate this opportunity, please share this message.

Criteria for Funding:

Programming must commence in winter/spring of 2020
Program must be an Expedition
80% funded programming must be for underserved MN populations
20% funded programming must be for new or lapsed partners

*If you are a lapsed partner, welcome back! Let's re-visit your goals and explore a new program.

Preference for Funding:

We like to work with crews of 7-12 participants
We will prioritize partners who would like to serve multiple crews
We will prioritize partners who intend to offer programming year over year

Criteria for Partnership:

All new programs require a minimum of 60 days to design and plan
Be ready to share your perspectives, challenges, opportunities and goals
Be ready to support your participants with a dedicated point person & prep

Hot or Cold, Be Bold!

The Boundary Waters and Big Bend are both epic places to learn and grow.
To learn more about these unique course areas and this opportunity, please reach out, the sooner, the better:

I look forward to connecting!

"Our communities need resilient and compassionate leaders.
The challenges are many: poverty, climate change, political discord, discrimination, injustice. The list goes on. Any one of us might say, 'How can I eliminate poverty? How can I halt climate change? How can I stop racism?' The answer is… you can’t… but together, we can."
